Membership

People are always welcome to join Tooth Aid Inc. It is through the membership that the Committee is elected, projects are proposed and endorsed. You should read the material on the home page and other pages to get a better idea of the work that is carried out by Tooth Aid Inc.    

Members will be sent out via email, and mail if no email address is available, about recent work done by Tooth Aid Inc, reports, proposals for future work and photographs of visits.

We take for granted that basic medical and dental treatment is available, often we do not even think about it. What if you had to travel for 8 hours to get the most basic dental treatment? Before Paul arrived the only dental equipment at Nambak District Hospital was a single dental mirror! In most cases the people resort to self-treatment, drugs or simply put up with pain and discomfort.

‘Tooth Aid Inc’ was set up by Dr Paul Kotala to facilitate the provision of Dental Treatment to those people who would not otherwise have reasonable access to it, currently in Nambak District in Laos. Through the work so far there have been 4 people trained in relief of pain treatment. To date over 4,000 people have been treated, providing some 10,000 services. Tooth Aid Inc has also established a mobile dental clinic in the district, which travels by tuktuk or boat, through the District. Tooth Aid Inc joins the district market cycle, providing treatment to the people. Both these programs were successful for their treatment of the population.

Nambak Dental Clinic open. After 18 months of negotiation Tooth Aid Inc opened a Nambak Dental Clinic on 28th November 2006 at Nambak District Hospital.

• Join one of the visits. Note: that all volunteers pay their own expenses. All the memberships and donations go directly to the project.

So far, in Nambak District Tooth Aid Inc

• Built the Nambak Dental Clinic.

• Trained four local people in relief of pain treatment.

• Established a mobile dental clinic in Nambak district, which joins the district market cycle travelling by tuktuk or boat to treat people in the outlying villages.

• Treated over 4,000 people in the outreach program and 1000 in Nambak hospital.

• Provided over 10,000 services to the people of Nambak District.

As well as the training and treatment projects Tooth Aid Inc organises

• The school preventive program co-ordinated by Christelle le Baccon-Bader a Sydney trained dental therapist.

• A Denture program co-ordinated by Stav Zervas a master dental technician already providing 75 dentures and has trained one person to make dentures.
